"Gymnastics - a key component of a quality, balanced physical education program."

GYMNASTICS AT YOUR SCHOOL

Gymnastics provides the building blocks for a solid physical preparation for children. This  fundamental program covers the dominant movement patterns of balance, swing, spring, rotation, landings and  locomotion.

GYMNASTICS AT SCHOOLS combines the vital ingredients of fun and fitness and aims at providing pre schoolers and primary school aged children with the physical ability to move successfully into other sports and recreation activities.

Ed GYM and GYMBUS GYMNASTICS programs were designed by two former Australian gymnastics representatives with over 50 years of combined gymnastics experience and are currently operating in over 150  schools in W.A. and  Victoria.

There are many benefits for children who do gymnastics. Most people are aware that many children are becoming less active with the internet and video games rated highly as recreational pass-times.

The Gymnastics program gives children an increase in co-ordination, flexibility and body management and provides a solid base for children to move successfully into other sports and recreational activities.

Gymbus Pty Ltd offers two types of program:

1.      ED GYM (Available in W.A only) is an educational gymnastics program conducted on 10 stations of modified gymnastics equipment. The equipment is transported to the school in small trucks and set up circuit style in an under cover area, or outdoors in suitable weather. The ED GYM program has a strong emphasis on basic skills and is more in line with traditional gymnastics classes.

2.       GYMBUS GYMNASTICS  (Available W.A and Victoria) is also an educational gymnastics program, BUT the program is conducted inside a double decker bus. The floors and walls are padded and carpeted for safety and comfort. The roomy interior had two foam pits, rollings wedges, parallel bars, horizontal bars, handstand stations,  roman rings, swinging ropes, climbing ladders,  a maze of tunnels linking two levels, and even a slide. This unique program is suitable for schools with no undercover area or ittle or no playing area such as inner city  or new  schools.  GYMBUS GYMNASTICS has a strong focus on upper body strength and encourages a high level of participation from even the less physical students

ABOUT THE ED-GYM PROGRAM

The mobility of the ED-Gym program allows us to visit your school with two accredited coaches and 6 stations of gymnastics equipment: and 4 sub stations of ancillary equipment.

·        BEAM

·        PARALLEL BARS

·        MINI TRAMPOLINE

·        ROLLING WEDGE

·        TUMBLING STRIP

·        HANDSTAND STATION

We visit the school once a week for five or ten weeks and the lesson duration can be 30, 40, 45 or even 50 minutes, depending of what fits best with the school timetable.

After a warm-up and a demonstration of the skills on each apparatus, the class is divided into 5 groups and the students rotate through all stations. Because of the setting up and packing away time for the equipment, this program is best suited to schools with 4 or more classes.

The classes are designed for pre primary through to year 7.  The skills become progressively harder from year to year and more challenging as the weeks pass. A large range of incentives are built into the program, (see Benefits and Incentives)

As well as the Perth metropolitan area, the ED GYM trucks will visit schools as far as Geraldton, Kalgoorlie, Albany, Esperance and anywhere in between. (Travel costs will apply)

ABOUT THE GYMBUS PROGRAM

One of the most exciting innovations to encouraging children to participate in gymnastics has been the introduction of the Gymbus into Western Australia and Victoria.

The double-decker buses have been converted into mini gymnasiums. The floors and walls are padded with foam and carpeted for safety. The roomy interior has, parallel bars, swinging ropes, roman rings, rolling wedges, two foam filled pits, a trapeze, fireman’s pole, climbing ladders, monkey bars, and two tunnels that link the upper and lower levels via a slide. It has to be seen - to be believed!

The interior of the Gymbus is divided into 5 colour-coded rooms, each with 3-4 activity stations. Each class is divided into 5 groups and after a warm up, rotate through the five areas, completing 15 – 20 activities each lesson.

The Gymbus can provide you and your students with:

·        A 5 OR 10 week course introducing  basic gymnastics skills including participation certificates for every student

·        A 1 day program as a grand finale to your existing gymnastics, PMP or fundamental movement program

·        An "End of term" or Christmas activity

·        A fundraiser for your school fete

Children love it because it incorporates play equipment with modified gymnastics equipment and the uniqueness of a double decker bus.

Teachers love it because it includes the expertise of two accredited gymnastics coaches, and 50 years of experience in the lesson plans.

The Gymbus is divided into 5 colour-coded areas, each with 3 –4 activity stations. The class is divided into five groups with approximately six children per group, and after a demonstration of the skills, the children rotate through the five areas, until they have completed a minimum of fifteen activities. Classes can be of 30, 40 or even 45 minute’s duration

Free play time is always the favourite time, using games to practise the skills learnt for the day.

The Gymbus is suitable for prep through to year 5. As well as covering the Perth and Melbourne metropolitan area, the Gymbus will travel to country areas with in a 250km radius of the CBD. (Travel costs will apply)

COSTS FOR MOBILE GYMNASTICS FOR SCHOOLS

Costs for each program will vary according to:

1.      The number of students in each class

2.      The total number of classes

3.      The duration of the lessons, 30, 40 45 or 50 minutes

4.      Classes running back to back allowing for lunch and recess breaks

Once we have established to number of classes and the number of students, the most economical option will be worked out for your school. Generally speaking the more students involved the cheaper the program becomes per head. For example:

5 week course of 8 x 30 minute classes of approximately 25 students

= $75.00 per class

= $3.00 per child per lesson

= $15.00 for 5 lessons

The cost for a One day program is slightly more than that of the 5 and 10 week courses.

Note: We are obliged to collect GST; however the school can claim it back as a credit from the ATO
